Geranium Essential oil
By Linda A. Annan
The attractive geranium plant is one of many assorted species (over 400,) though only a few of its collection is used to manufacture essential oils. With scents in mint, citrus and other exotic flavors, geranium oil serves as a vital element in the fragrance industry today.
Inhaling geranium, they say, relieves anxiety and petulance often associated with physical and emotional drain in addition to rousing sensuality. Its soporific qualities enable it to soothe the body when used; it can also uplift one's spirit with its invigorating functions.
For those with dry, vulnerable skin or problems with acne and blemishes, geranium oil can solve or relieve such discomforts with its skin-stimulating properties, promoting radiance.
Like many essential oils, it favors women by either eliminating or alleviating distresses like painful periods and menopausal issues. It is even believed to regulate hormone levels during menopause. As a diuretic agent, it helps to reduce fluid retention during menstrual periods. Tenderness or inflammation of the breast(s) is also relieved with the use of this oil. If you are looking for an effective remedy for cuts, burns and bruises, try using geranium oil to hasten the remedial of such wounds.
Widely used in Europe , it is usually recommended by physicians to cure illnesses like kidney stones, gall stones, urinary tract infections and even diarrhea. If you battle with a weak respiratory system and frequently experience sore throats and tonsillitis, this plant might be able to lessen the severity of your symptoms.
Geranium, like all essential oils is most effective when used as directed.
