U.S.-Based Ghanaian Rapper Blitz To Re-release Sophomore Album with EMI Music Publishing

blitz the ambassador Blitz, right, not the football league or the independent game developer, but the U.S.- based Ghanaian rapper, is about to re-release his second album with EMI Music Publishing
for nationwide distribution.

The world's leading music publishing company plans to remix a couple of tracks on Double Consciousness with such artists as Chuck D from Public Enemy and Dead Prez. The release date is set to September 19, 2006.

Even with a remix in the works, Double Consciousness still delivers powerful messages that speak volumes to this generation. It opens with the words, “He who has ears, let him hear,” the exact words of Christ after speaking to an unbelieving crowd. Perhaps a similar message is being sent to an “unbelieving” generation? But unbelief in what? The album spits out the hypocritical nature of society and the injustices of the world today in full force. “War,” a track that drives Blitz fans ballistic with its symphonic Hip-hop chorus and words like “You can try to fool some of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all the time,” rings with the tone of former African American civil rights activists.

Like the title of the album, “Double Consciousness,” the 3rd track takes a route into the mind of W.E.B. Dubois. This, Blitz says, is a “humble tribute” to the pacesetter of Pan- Africanism. Needless to say, anyone who thinks Blitz doesn't have soul is proven wrong in “Need you,” which unravels a softer and emotional side of him; contrasting the political artist he's been accused of.

Now, who said an album like this could end without a tribute to the motherland, Ghana. After Blitz expresses his views on the verdict of the brutal murder of fourteen year old Emmett Till  in “Emmett (s) Till,”  he switches over through “Memory Lane,” to “Sankofa,” translated as “Going back to reclaim the past in order to move forward.” The remaining tracks encourage every person of African descent to be proactive and get involved to make the world a better place.

If you're thinking about a great summer must-have album, this might be your best bet for realistic lyrics. Double Consciousness can be found on Blitz's website at www.reprisalrecords.com, and such stores as Best Buy and Tower Records. It is also available on www.cdbaby.com, undergroundhiphop.com, and hiphopsite.com as well as iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster. The album will be available in every music store after the re- release date.
