Soul Rebel
By LINDA A. ANNAN
Cleveland Scene, one of Ohio's music publications deemed it "a gritty, galvanized disc that's one of the strongest regional rap releases in some time." The Voice said, "A unique blend of conscious lyrics and soulful beats...An instant classic."
Like his second album Double Consciousness , Blitz mentions Marcus Garvey, Gil Scott Heron, and Carter G. Wilson. The album cover features a young African boy holding a firm grip on a rifle, one way of Blitz portraying the political state of some African countries. It is also a picture that inspired The Road Less Travelled , a track from Double Consciousness in which Blitz condemns the violent conditions in war-stricken African countries.
