Natural Flu Remedies
By Linda A. Annan

Most people mistake a bad cold with the flu, and they fail to realize is that unlike a cold, the flu knocks you out, leaving you with muscles aches, chills and a bad fever. Many conventional flu medicines tend to be powerless in curing us and only aide in minimizing niggling symptoms.

However, some herbal medicines such as Elder, Chamomile and Peppermint are said to do wonders to your body by boosting your body's natural healing process, and leaves your immune system in great condition.

Chamomile and Peppermint
The soothing effect of chamomile usually interrupts the rotten feeling associated with the flu. This flower is said to have some ability to fight against microorganisms that may promote the disease. Its counterpart, peppermint, also has the ability to relax the body and appease the digestive system. If you often experience stomach upset, restlessness, and irritability, you may have stumbled on the best remedy for you.

Procedure:
Simply steep dried chamomile flowers and peppermint leaves at a
strength that works for you. Or you can purchase packaged chamomile and peppermint tea and put the tea bags in the same cup. Drink two or more cups a day.

Elderberry
Elderberry is believed to prevent the flu virus from duplicating itself in your body and also decreases the length of flu symptoms. It is recommended to take the basic dose below for about 3 days, starting from the first day you experience flu symptoms. Be sure to follow all instructions on the label.

Dose:
Take 1 teaspoon of tincture three or four times a day.
