10 Positive Ways to Deal with Stress
1. Never be led solely by your emotions (As women, we are easily persuaded by our emotions and lose sight of rationalization- and common sense just goes out the window).
2. Relax – as simple as this may sound, taking your mind off whatever may be stressing you is a crucial step in dealing with stress.
3. Gratefulness shouldn't only be experienced when life is great or you have everything you want. Many times when things were going great in my life, I still was ungrateful because I may have moved on to wanting something else or did not take the time to revel in what God had given me. The longer I stayed in being ungrateful the longer it took for me to see God…It's not a good feeling to have God give you the desires of your heart but then tell Him His gifts are not good enough and want better. It ends up hurting God and ultimately your outlook on life.
4. Research shows that stress increases the need for vitamin C, which helps keep the immune system in good working order. What this means is that, in moments of stress, eat foods rich in vitamin C eg. strawberries, oranges or kiwis. Decreasing your workload pressure can greatly decrease your stress level and so if possible, please take some time off work (whatever it may be) and do nothing and see how much better you feel already.
5. There's always 2 sides to a situation- Never assume to know the truth without analyzing both sides to a story.
6. Even when God may seem not to be answering your prayers…in the midst of it all God is working for a bigger purpose. God has an invisible hand. He is touching situations even we don't always see…His hands are moving as he arranges the cards of life on the table. He teaches a deep importance of trusting in His goodness, His faithfulness; our desires when we are frustratingly waiting on God is for Him to “act” or “show” up in our situation, and we often ask, “Where are you?” How about asking God joyfully from now on, “I wonder what You are up to?” Romans 8: 27-29 (Message)
7. Don't settle for what you think you can get, but rather aim for what you think you are worth.
8. Emotions are good and necessary because they alert us to the things in our hearts to which we need to pay more attention. We do, however, need to learn how to react to them and not act on them. The difference is that when we act on an emotion we are not thinking clearly, we are just doing what we feel in the moment. On the other hand, when we react to an emotion, we are paying attention to the bigger issue being brought to light; that is when we are able to tackle the real issue. This is how we know whether or not we are reacting to an emotion or acting on it. Acting on an emotion usually leaves us with regrets and little or no clarity on the matter while reacting on it produces growth and deeper understanding of self.
9. Don't be so quick to dismiss what your conscience or the small voice inside your head is telling you- it may help you avoid a bad heartache.
10. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)! It really helps to look into the mirror and say this out loud to yourself. Your creator and heavenly Father sees you that way so accept it and be confident in who you are in Christ! Also develop a love relationship with the Lord. Be reminded that you are loved with an everlasting love no matter what!!!
